This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) defines the acceptable and unacceptable use of services provided by CT Hosting. By using our hosting, domain or email services, you agree to comply with this AUP in full. Violations may result in account suspension, service termination or legal action.

This policy exists to protect our network, clients and infrastructure, and to ensure a safe, lawful, and high-performing hosting environment for all users.

1. Illegal or Unauthorised Use

You may not use our services to:

  • Host, share or distribute any content that is illegal under Australian law
  • Engage in unauthorised access to systems, networks or data (“hacking”)
  • Circumvent copyright protections or host pirated software, media or cracked files
  • Conduct or support phishing, fraud, scams or impersonation of brands or individuals
  • Distribute malware, ransomware, viruses or backdoors

We reserve the right to report unlawful activity to law enforcement and relevant authorities.

2. Abuse of Network or Resources

You may not engage in activities that:

  • Consume excessive server resources beyond the fair usage of your hosting plan
  • Cause denial-of-service (DoS) or interfere with other customers’ services
  • Run background tasks, bots or daemons that degrade server performance
  • Use CT Hosting servers as a general-purpose file storage system (non-web usage)

We may suspend or throttle resource-intensive accounts without notice if service stability is at risk.

3. Spam, Bulk Email & Unsolicited Messaging

You may not:

  • Send spam or unsolicited bulk email from CT Hosting servers
  • Use purchased email lists or send marketing without consent (per Spam Act 2003)
  • Run mail marketing tools without proper configuration (e.g., opt-outs, bounce handling)
  • Forge email headers or manipulate identity information
  • Violations may result in IP blacklisting, service cancellation and notification to anti-spam databases.

4. Prohibited Content

CT Hosting prohibits hosting or linking to content that includes:

  • Adult material, pornography or explicit content (unless pre-approved and compliant)
  • Hate speech, racism, incitement to violence or defamation
  • Content promoting self-harm, abuse or suicide
  • Terrorist propaganda, criminal activity or weapons sales
  • Unlicensed gambling or betting services

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these standards.

5. Security & Account Responsibility

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your login credentials secure and confidential
  • Maintaining up-to-date software (e.g. WordPress, plugins, themes)
  • Securing your scripts, APIs and database connections
  • Ensuring your contact and billing details remain current

You must not attempt to probe, scan or test for vulnerabilities on our systems without written permission.

6. Email & Mailing List Conduct

You must:

  • Send marketing only with permission (opt-in)
  • Include accurate sender information and a working unsubscribe link
  • Honour unsubscribe requests within 5 business days
  • Avoid sending high volumes of email through shared hosting SMTP servers
  • Use of external email delivery platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, SendGrid) is recommended for campaigns.

7. Backups & Data Integrity

While we provide automated backups on selected hosting plans, you are ultimately responsible for maintaining your own up-to-date backups. Misuse of storage for backup archiving without approval may result in account limits or removal.

8. Enforcement & Suspension

CT Hosting may take the following actions for violations:

  • Issue warnings and request resolution
  • Temporarily suspend access to affected services
  • Remove or disable violating content or scripts
  • Terminate accounts with repeated or severe breaches
  • Involve legal authorities where applicable

Decisions made under this AUP are at the discretion of CT Hosting and are final.

9. Reporting Abuse

To report abuse or suspicious activity hosted on CT Hosting infrastructure, contact us immedately.

Include the full URL, IP address (if known) and details of the complaint.

10. Policy Updates

We may revise this Acceptable Use Policy at any time. The most recent version will always be available here. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes.
